A little "surprise" sunshine is always good

Today was dull with rainy weather, no sunshine and rather mundane and ordinary routine. Nothing out of the ordinary had been happening lately. In my mind, I was scrambling for the weekend. I was hoping that may be the weekend will have more sunshine and something better and more exciting to look forward to. And then something happened that just brought a smile and a few tears at the same time.

A little girl was around and all day was just busy playing around with her friend. I hardly had anytime to spare for her. All in all we did some origami together and then it was time for her to go home. Just before leaving with her Mom, she stopped, came back, hugged me and then walked away.

This little gesture got me thinking. Little children have their hearts filled with unconditional love and clarity. No calculations, no manipulations. If you like or love someone just a small hug, a small gesture says it all. They don't hold up their feelings. What happens to us, the adults, along the way as we grow older? Where does this little child get lost? Why can we not smile and slow down to smell the roses? Why can we not enjoy the "now" and be happy and recognize all the love floating around us disguised in unimaginable ways?

If only we kept this child within us alive, this world would seem a more wonderful and a much more happier place to live in.
